A man steeped in mystery, Jack Hayes, is an incredible storyteller in the ilk of the late, Alistair Maclean. I have long been a fan of his WWII Maddox thrillers which tells the tale of Captain Maddox and his team in a full throttle series that has the hero in all manner of impossible situations imaginable.
