Kyle Gibbs Locations
Travelling the world
My love of the planet and travel meant that my novels and novellas were always going to be based in locations that showed the wonders of this planet we call home. From my childhood days of reading the cartoon character, TinTin, and following his global adventures with an atlas, I wanted to travel and enjoy foreign climes and cultures.
Later on, life as an IT consultant allowed me to work in Southern Africa, the Middle East, Australia, USA, Europe and the United Kingdom. It was (and still is) a fantastic way to see the world and have someone else pay you to do it.
So many of my favourite novels involved the world we live in, so I guess it was inevitable that I would write about faraway places. With the advent of the fantastic Google Streetmaps, it is possible to travel to and visualise, the streets you need to describe in your books. Sure, you miss the smells and sounds of a place, but Youtube can help with one of those at least.
While it doesn’t satisfy all the travel urges or top-up your wanderlust, it serves as a Plan B because you cannot travel to all the locations you might want to write about at the drop of a hat.
